Description:
The project is to create a new web hosting environment to host public facing web applications and websites. The new environment will need to be able to host current and planned web applications and allow for significant expansion (up to double) in both the number of applications hosted as well as usage of the existing applications
Role:
The role of the Project Manager will be:
- To act as project manager for the project from the start of the project to its completion, ensuring the successful delivery of the project and producing project management deliverables along the way using project management standards which are broadly in line with PRINCE2.
- To work with technical staff to define the requirements for the project, based on a budget and taking into account the existing technology and business environment
- To drive any procurement exercises required for components or services, with staff playing roles in evaluation and approval as appropriate.
- Security requirements will be a strong consideration and the setting and evaluation of standards, risk analysis and security reviews and testing will need to be incorporated into the plan. The environment will be built up to a fully managed standard to include backup facilities, monitoring etc.
Requirement:
Skills Required:
- PRINCE2 qualified or have significant experience of project management in a PRINCE2 environment.
- Proven track record and demonstrated experience of Project Management within the realm of ICT Infrastructure projects.
- Experience of public sector procurement is highly desirable.
- Excellent planning and co-ordination skills, have a strong customer orientation and have a history which demonstrates the negotiation and persuasion skills required to successfully manage a project of this scale.
- Candidates should have sufficient technical knowledge to establish and document the technical requirements and current technologies involved with this project, or/and should have access to the technical resources required to provide this expertise.
