Project Manager

Purpose of this Project:

This role is focused on Project Management for the national claims team. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the creation, oversight and control of various projects for the department. The Project Manager will interface with the business owners and IT on a daily basis; will field phone calls/emails requesting specific information. The role of a PM is to ensure all appropriate personnel are engaged throughout the process, communication of status, escalation of issues is executed timely. The role will manage multiple simple to complex projects which may cross over other departments

Department: National Claims Quality & Performance Excellence

Hours: 8 - 5 .. but can be flexible

Requirements:

Bachelors degree
Minimum 2-3 Years Project Management Experience
1) Ability to extract information from stakeholders/subject matter experts to draft a comprehensive project plan inclusive of tasks, resource assignments, estimates, dependencies and milestones.
2) Responsible for daily monitoring of the plan and formal communication to management of the plan progress.
3) Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Will work with a variety of people within claims and in other departments to ensure successful end-to-end deployments of releases/process improvements/procedure changes.
4) Previous Project Management experience is required tracking requests and deliverables and meeting project deadlines.
5) Must be able to create plans in Microsoft Project as well as to create mini plans in Excel and communicate status using Project, Excel or PowerPoint. Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills, Access and Powerpoint required.

9) Excellent oral and written skills, ability to ask questions to decipher information
10) Ability to work with project teams in multiple locations and knowledgeable in health plan systems. For example, claims administration and the related upstream and downstream departments in multiple Kaiser regions. (eg provider contracting, customer service, etc.)
11) Able to work in a diverse environment and possess the ability to influence, listen and respond timely to requests.

Essential Duties although to start will focus on platform change requests in support of the Health Insurance Exchange projects. PM will also work with leader on other national claim projects to provide organizational tools and techniques
Ensure proper approval signoffs obtained
Create, maintain and report out on project status; create dashboards to reflect status updates
Must be able to problem solve within group, escalate when needed
Demonstrates ability to identify risks and issues, manage issues and risks and clearly document impacts
Provides high level resource data relative to commitment levels on projects, highlighting overages and under utilization
Requires planning to coordinate with other departments or resources
Oversees transition to operational production status
Manages project close-out activities
Develops and conducts post-implementation review
Prepare summaries and analysis results in a professional format and/or using graphical representations
May Manage project budget
Provides updates to multiple levels of staff including executives including status as well as financial impact and benefit realization
Understands and applies knowledge of change management when necessary
Understands all components of the project life cycle phases and applies knowledge accordingly
