A number of potential opportunities have arisen to join a high profile client in Birmingham. The Project Managers will manage and support a number of contingency schemes that are currently being processed. The schemes will affect a number of major motorway networks including the M4, M5 and M6

Key tasks/deliverables:

- Manage a project team.
- Establish project management controls and a record management (filing) system.
- Plan and define project steps, scope project risks and issues, establish plans, review milestones and priorities.
- Develop, update, monitor and report against a detailed project plan identifying resource requirements and interdependencies from scheme development through the construction phase and into operations.
- Manage and procure Design Consultants, Contractors and third parties to deliver project objectives eg Traffic Modelling, Economic Assessment, Surveys.
- Request expert/specialist advice as appropriate and evaluate and act on such advice to ensure objectives are achieved and ensuring the project satisfactorily advances through governance controls eg stage gates (SGAR), Highways Investment Board (HIB).
- Manage the SI Consultation Process ROD/NOD & Challenge Period Process.
- Identify, develop and implement and monitor day-to-day support for the project activities including contract compliance, risk management, financial management and reporting, document control, assurance and governance.
- Provide quality analysis and progress reporting to the Senior Responsible Owner, Project Board and other senior stakeholders.
- Assess safety performance to minimise risks, develop improvements and escalate issues with relevant authorities in a timely manner.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

- Significant experience of working in a structured project management environment (preferably PRINCE2 or equivalent) delivering successful projects.
- Strong knowledge and experience of the highway/motorway construction industry
- Able to engage effectively with staff at all levels and with different technical understanding.
- Ability to lead a team to deliver a project.
- A good understanding of risk management techniques.
- Ability to understand the context and implications of technical plans and scheme delivery activities to a sufficient level to enable effective decisions to be taken.
- Strong Commercial skills with ability to negotiate and manage contracts for projects dependent on external procurement/contracts to deliver outcomes.
- Strong change management ability to deliver successful outcomes for internal change projects.
- Must be computer literate using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
