Project Manager

Project Managers with solid background in the petrochemical / refinery industry are needed for a leading Engineering firm to manage a diversified portfolio of projects for established clientele. You will manage multiple engineering disciplines and vendors from early phases of project through commissioning. Temp to perm or direct hire depending on candidate preference and experience. Chicago area with relocation assistance is available to strong regional candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage the overall staff; provide vision and strategic leadership; monitor project schedules and budgets; evaluate project productivity and quality, and direct the overall project performance
- Set and manage client expectation. Ensure that project scope is clearly defined though Project Defining Document.
- Direct and manage the activities of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Assistants and support personnel in the planning, scheduling, design quality and execution of projects.
- Assume full responsibility for the successful execution of each assigned project.
- Organize and supervise the implementation of project management systems and corporate quality systems.
- Prepare and evaluate monthly progress reports; describing the schedule, manpower expenditures and work scope for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
- Maintain proper staff levels to meet project requirements. Actively recruit and train personnel for project as necessary. Develop, coach and track employee skill level in technical and work management areas

REQUIREMENTS

- B.S. degree in Engineering
- At least 12+ years in the petrochemical/ refining sector with and prior experience working as a project manager.
- Strong management skills with the ability to mentor, lead, train and motivate employees to produce quality work. Strive to achieve successful results as a team.
- Proven leader capable of utilizing plant and external resources as well as personal experience/knowledge to complete total project effort
- Overall understanding of technical disciplines and project execution.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is strongly preferred.
