Project Manager

In March 2012, our client was successful in securing approximately 5m of funding through the DfTs Better Area Bus Fund. This funding will assist in delivering a range of bus focussed schemes across Greater Manchester in conjunction with local authority partners and bus operators. All of the funding is required to be spent by the end of March 2014. Our client therefore has a requirement to appoint a Programme Manager to finalise set up and mobilise the Programme and establish relationships with delivery partners.

The Better Bus Area Fund Programme Manager will be required to perform the following duties:

-Finalise any remaining activities required to complete embedment of the programme within our clients governance structure;
-Oversee, manage and coordinate technical input and project management support into the schemes from our client Programme Management Services, Bus & Rail and Communications
-Work with the Districts to build and maintain relationships in association with the schemes that they are delivering. This relationship is key with a fine balance between managing these partners sensitively and at the same time achieving project goals and aspirations;
-Maintain Project Execution Plans and programme documentation;
-Plan submissions to relevant gateways as set out in our clients Programme Management Procedures and Project Management Procedures and ensure successful progress through these;
-Chair of programme focussed meetings;
-Liaise with and manage internal and external stakeholders including local authorities, bus operators and local community and business groups;
-Ensure risk management and financial forecasting are maintained;
-Coordinate and manage the input into and completion of monthly progress reports across the programme;
-Present to senior management and external stakeholders as required;
-Produce reports to our clients Directors and Members as required; and
-Work with local authorities to secure any necessary approvals, consents and Statutory Undertaker agreements (including Area Committee approvals, planning permissions, TROs and utilities diversions).
