Project Manage Infrastructure

My client, a multinational with HQ in Dublin, seek a PROJECT MANAGER - INFRASTRUCTURE AND APP SUPPORT. This will be an initial 8 month contract and is likely to extend in terms of 8 months. This is an excellent opportunity to join a global organisation, with exciting project work on offer.

THE POSITION
Project Manager to co-ordinate and manage the definition and implementation of the infrastructure and application support elements of a major B2B solution. The solution spans multiple internal IT delivery streams, including Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, B2B Integration, Source Systems, as well as the external B2B partner streams.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and facilitate a team of infrastructure engineers and application support engineers through the definition and implementation of a non-functional solution for a major B2B initiative, covering:

- Infrastructure definition and provisioning, including:
- Servers & Storage
- Network & Security
- Integration Infrastructure
- Capacity planning
- Business Continuity, Availability and Disaster Recovery
- Infrastructure for Integration architecture, across:
- Databases, Data Warehousing and ETL
- FTP, Web Services and XML
- Security and Networking
- Assuring the solution is supportable, including:
- Ensuring a support process is put in place, and is resourced and viable
- Overseeing the documentation of the requirements of the support process
- Ensuring support requirements are implemented by the solution delivery teams
- Ensuring appropriate handovers from build to support teams take place
- Liaison with other internal and external project managers to manage dependencies across delivery streams
- Requirements gathering
- The infrastructure budget, in the context of the overall program budget
- Resource allocations
- The production of relevant documentation

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

- Strong project management skills, use of a variety of structured, formal methods for project delivery.
- A strong background in managing technical definition and delivery in a multi-discipline, multi-stream environment
- Good awareness of the infrastructure elements required to deliver a large integration solution.
- Experience in putting support processes in place for large solutions
- An ability to manage technical resource across multiple disciplines to deliver a common solution
- Strong leadership and communication skills, and an ability to negotiate and influence.
- Ability to think outside the box and to make appropriate decisions.
- Experience with MS Project, Visio and other tools to perform responsibilities.
- Understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Ability to perform job with minimal intervention.
- Professional presentation and documentation skills.
- Good technical exposure, and experience with integration and related infrastructure.
- Exposure to, and a principled understanding of the clinical research or pharmaceutical sectors would also be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE PRE-REQUISITES:

- At least 10 years experience in IT
- At least 5 years in a significant project management role, which has included significant elements of Support and Infrastructure delivery
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an information technology related discipline Or
- A recognized project management qualification or certification
