Project Leader, Infrastructure - Banking, Brussels

BACKGROUND:

My client is a Brussels based international bank; they have a massive programme of infrastructure projects and are looking for additional resources with Project management skills.

The main objective is migrating all the bank's applications currently hosted on Unix/Solaris platforms to a Linux platform.

TASKS:

- You will be accountable for the delivery of end-to-end IT infrastructure projects, mainly in distributed platforms like Windows and Unix/Linux. This means you will manage projects life cycle from pre-business case to deployment phase, including the post-launch follow-up.
- Define the scope, timing and budget of the project;
- Set-up and maintain an activity plan;
- Deliver the project scope on time, on budget and with the expected quality;
- Ensure quality of deliverables and delivered services through a structured project management approach (project planning tools, project reporting, project management methodology);
- Directly manage IT infrastructure resources (internal, contractors and/or offshore);
- Indirectly manage teams across various divisions and entities;
- Coordinate all parties involved in the project: both inside the organization (Operations, Commercial, Network etc) and externally (for example IT suppliers, clients etc);
- Understand the bank's business and infrastructure;
- Maintain compliance with Architecture principles and recommendations;
- Hand over the finalized project to the maintenance teams.

SKILLS:

- MINIMUM 5 years of end-to-end project leadership experience;
- PROVEN knowledge and experience of Unix/Linux/Solaris IT infrastructure.
- Several years of proven Project Management experience in an IT application delivery environment, preferably in large-scale projects.
- Ability to identify project risks and solve issues;

Some appreciation of the financial sector, Back Office, settlement, custody, investment funds industry etc. is desired. Previous experience in investment banking, insurance, asset management, funds management, custody, stock exchange or an ICSD (International Centralised Securities Depositary or similar, eg. Crest, Euroclear, Clearstream, LCH Clearnet, stock exchanges etc) will be a big plus.
