Project Engineering Manager - IPT

PROJECT ENGINEERING MANAGER - MANAGEMENT/RADAR/ELECTRO OPTICAL/SURVEILLANCE/C4 SYSTEMS

A Project Engineering Manager with engineering management, radar, electro optical, surveillance and C4 Systems experience is required to work on a five month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Basildon.

This is a 5 month contract to work for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT ENGINEERING MANAGER CONTRACT ROLE

Our leading defence client are recruiting for an experienced engineer who primary role is to lead a multi-disciplined engineering team, generally on high complexity, high value programmes. The successful candidate will ensure that the Integrated Project Team (IPT) delivers an integrated solution that is compliant with the customer requirements, contractual and legislative requirements and it is effectively planned and managed from a performance, schedule and cost perspective. The successful candidate must be flexible to travel to Malaysia.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT ENGINEERING MANAGER

- Leadership of large multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Delivery of the overall engineering solution on time, to cost and performance.
- Own and implement the overall engineering plan, establishing key milestones and interdependencies.
- Challenge and validate estimates and scheduled, including forward load requirements.
- Ensure critical factors such as Unit Production Cost, mass, power consumption, etc are defined, tracked and managed.
- Support make and buy decisions.
- Ensure that corrective and preventative action is taken to address non-conformance.
- Manage compliance of the design solution against the overall requirement, including customer requirements, acceptance, legislative and contractual requirements and product safety requirements, co-operate with the project Chief Engineer to resolve technical or programme conflicts.
- Evaluate, mitigate and manage engineering risks.
- Participate in contract status reviews, design reviews and supplier progress reviews and produce targets for action closure.
- Must be able to Coach and mentor other engineers as appropriate.

The role is based in Basildon, Essex - commutable from Colchester, Chelmsford, Harlow, Enfield, Romford, Grays, Gravesend, Gillingham and Southend with excellent access from London
