Project Engineering Manager
Location: Drigg, Cumbria
Working hours: Monday - Friday, Full time
Salary: £50 - £60 LTD Dependent on Experience
Duration: 12 Months

Objective

A great opportunity has arisen for a bright, proactive individual to work as a Project Engineering Manager within the Nuclear Industry.

Our client is a waste management company that provides services to customers to treat and dispose of low level radioactive waste; they oversee a national programme to ensure that lower activity waste is managed.

Deliverables (for contract)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE;

- Supporting the Head of Engineering in effective design strategies and plans in line with the overall function and Project strategies and plans.
- Generating periodic forecasts of engineering resource needs for site projects and programmes.
- Establishing design delivery strategies for the assigned portfolio.
- Coordinating the deployment of design resources in line with agreed resource strategies.
- Identifying appropriate design and engineering standards and practices to be used for the delivery of projects.
- Specifying the level of verification and validation necessary to underpin design solutions that meet the safety, engineering and operational needs.
- Identifying and managing engineering and technical risks that affect delivery of the projects and the longer term performance of the engineering in service through to end of life.
- Promoting best practice and sharing project specific LFE across the engineering business and sharing of external LFE with the Project Team.
- Leading and developing engineering elements of Project baseline scope, schedule and budge.
- Establishing and maintaining control of the engineering baseline via appropriate change control process.
- Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on engineering status progress against schedules and implementing actions as necessary.
- Leading the establishment of supply chain arrangements designed to provide quick and easy access to engineering services as and when needed.
- Ensuring clarity and accuracy of functional and technical specifications and scopes of work provided to supply chain organisations.
- Inputting and reviewing work package, tender selection and tender submissions for procurement of engineering services.
- Specifying, overseeing and reviewing engineering work performed by supply chain contractors.
- Establishing engineering work approval strategies.
- Ensuring project engineering documentation is complete.
- Accepting engineering work performed by supply chain organisations on behalf of the projects.

Essential/Desirable Skills

The successful candidate will possess;

- Ability to effectively manage supply chain contractors.
- Good communication skills.
- Degree qualified with relevant experience.
- Certified by the Association of Project Managers..
- Knowledge of NEC 3 contracts.
