Job Description
To provide engineering lead to a small team of engineers developing a solution that is compliant with the customer requirements, contractual and legislative requirements. This role requires a background of emergency services and experience of leading engineering solutions.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge
Engineering Leadership of multidisciplinary teams, Emergency Service Operations and Comms Systems, TETRA radio systems (TETRA, 4GLTE), Systems Engineering developing architectures and detailed solutions

Key responsibility areas
* Leadership of a multi discipline engineering team
* Delivery of the overall engineering solution on time, to cost and performance
* Own and implement the overall engineering plan, establishing key milestones and interdependencies
* Challenge and validate estimates and scheduled, including forward load requirements
* Ensure critical factors such as Unit Production Cost, mass, power consumption, etc are defined, tracked and managed
* Support make and buy decisions
* Ensure that corrective and preventative action is taken to address non-conformance
* Manage compliance of the design solution against the overall requirement, including customer requirements, acceptance, legislative and contractual requirements and product safety requirements, co-operate with the project Chief Engineer to resolve technical or programme conflicts
* Evaluate, mitigate and manage engineering risks
* Participate in contract status reviews, design reviews and supplier progress reviews and produce targets for action closure
* Coach and mentor other engineers as appropriate
