Project Engineer - Transport

Project Engineer - £500 p/d Ltd - London - Transport Modelling

Development of the National Transport Model - Manage contractors delivering a significant part (eg highway assignment route choice model) of the future National Transport Model.

During periods of high demand, this role may also be required to support other staff carrying out application of the existing model, and/or to provide support in testing new IT systems.

The tasks and deliverables will depend on the timing of the appointment and our business needs at that time; however the role is likely to deliver some of the following:

1. Preparation for and/or management of suppliers and technical review and challenge for developing the zoning system and commencing development of the national highway network model for a future version of NTM.
2. Preparation for and/or management of suppliers and technical review and challenge for specifying the scope of the demand model for a future version of NTM.
3. Management of suppliers and technical review and challenge for producing clearer documentation of our modelling software.
4. Provide project support in updating the project management documentation and risk reporting as projects progress.
5. Discussing technical concepts and project progress with a small number of internal stakeholders.

There may be some flexibility in exactly what is covered by this role depending on the skills of the candidate. If the post-holder is appointed full-time, they will be expected to work 37 hours per week daytime Monday-Friday.

It is desirable that candidates have experience of successfully managing staff to deliver work. It is also desirable that they can demonstrate an ability to communicate complex modelling concepts to a non-technical audience.

Essential Experience:

*Experience of developing and applying mathematical models in a transport context, including in particular variable demand modelling.
