Project Engineer Bus Interchanges, Multi-deck Carparks

One of our very good and well respected clients are in immediate need of a Project Engineer, with interviews starting early next week.

You will be reporting to 2 Project Managers and will be given responsibility like no other position you have had, the requirements for the role are below:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

- Based in Chatswood
- Travel to wider metropolitan Sydney required
- Supporting multiple Project Managers on the following projects:
- Multi-deck carparks (value $10m-$25m)
- Interchanges (value: $3m-$25m)
- Supporting the PM and Design Manager during the design phase (office based)
- Supporting the PM during the procurement (Invitation to Tender) phase (office based)
- Supporting the PM during the Construction phase (on site)
- Representing the Principal as the on-site interface between PM and Contractor
- Oversight and general quality control of contractors construction activities
- Oversight of the following engineering disciplines is required (in collaboration with Design Engineers):
- civil,
- structural,
- mechanical,
- electrical,
- hydraulic
- Support the PM in liaison with external stakeholders
- Attendance at all site meetings between the Principal and Contractor and taking Minutes
- Overall engineering management and administration services
- Ensuring the Contractors contractual compliance with time, cost, quality, safety and environmental matters;
- Verifying quality compliance of work activity with ITPs, project specifications, drawings
- Managing all testing, inspections and reviews necessary to demonstrate conformance of the work with contract requirements
- Ensuring the updated/current version of drawings and project specifications are made available to the Contractor;
- Participating in reviews and consultation processes with Sydney Trains, designers, service providers, employees on WHS, environmental and quality issues including non-conformances;
- Reporting to the Project Manager of any Cost, time, quality, safety, or environmental risks

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL:

- Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline
- Further qualifications in a Management discipline is considered an advantage

THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS SEEN AS HIGHLY BENEFICIAL:

- 5-8 years experience in construction
- Extensive site-based construction experience essential
- Experience procuring Contractors or sub-contractors
- Civil experience (roads, carparks)
- Programming Skills (MS Project or Primavera)
- A good understanding of construction contracts
- Previous liaison responsibilities with stakeholders (power, water, sewer, councils, state agencies, etc)
