An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to work within Central Government on a contract basis. The position will be based in Bristol for an initial contract until April 2016 offering up to £480 per day LTD company.

Due to the nature of the position candidates with a current SC Clearance are highly desirable.

KEY TASKS:

The type 45 (T45) team is an integral part of the director ships support business area and enables military capability through provision of effective, efficient and safe support to the T45 class of vessel. The T45 team is responsible to the royal navy in its capacity as the Strategic Class Authority (SCA). The approach to warship support has evolved significantly over the past decade, and a Surface Ship Support (SSS) transformation programme is underway to introduce a Common Support Model (CSM) for all complex warships - targeting Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) and T45. The T45 future support team are currently undertaking a substantial programme of work to evolve the current support arrangements, which encompasses coordination of new equipment arrangements with maritime combat systems and maritime platform systems, and contracting for class management and design management, in line with CSM business objectives and timelines.

EXPERIENCE:

The T45 project engineer will have a strong engineering background, with experience of in-service support to military front-line operations. The project engineer will provide support to the development of technical solutions that meet customer capability needs, applying their knowledge and experience to ensure that ship support requirements within class, design, IKM and maintenance management are satisfied in an efficient, effective and safe manner within the CSM arrangements. The project engineer will hold a minimum of HNC in a relevant engineering subject, have proven project management skills and ability, and be able to both develop technical requirements and assess industry proposals. In addition, the project engineer will have practitioner level competence in system safety, configuration management, project controls and the management of quality.

Essential: PM qualifications or extensive experience

Desirable: Membership of professional institution/association; MOD ship safety management (SSMO) certificate

Technical support to in-service support activity and lines of development associated with the CSM transformation programme. Management of technical risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities
