Project Engineer

Pay Rate: Up to £450 per day

Location: Bristol

Contract Length: 7 months

Description:

The Project Engineer provides support or leadership in the development of the technical solution to meet the customer capability needs. They ensure that the solution is successfully integrated into the current enterprise whilst managing and minimising negative impacts. They seek to apply engineering best practice and ensure that all stakeholders are effectively managed throughout the engineering activities. They involve specialists as required and actively consider performance, safety and quality implications before making decisions.
Ensure that performance, time, cost, risk and safety factors are taken into consideration when making technical decisions.
Discuss and agree system design solutions with Suppliers and ensure that the inherent technical risks associated with them are understood and managed.
Ensure the solution integrates into defence and manage the system boundaries and interfaces by identifying, engaging and managing specialists as required.
Follow all applicable engineering standards, legislation, policy and guidance, ensuring that where there is deviation, the impact understood, planned and managed.
Specify the technical and integration aspects in contracts
Specify the technical and integration aspects in the Through Life Management Plan (TLMP) ensuring that all Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs) are addressed.
Work with the Project Manager and other engineers to identify the technical stakeholders and ensure that they are identified, engaged and managed throughout the engineering activities.

Key Tasks:

*The STAAR PT is responsible for managing the provision of the Voyager aircraft PFI service, including aircraft, training, maintenance and logistic support, which is contracted with AirTanker Ltd.
*Air-to-Air Refuelling is a key military capability that significantly increases operational range and endurance of front line aircraft across a range of Defence roles and military tasks.
*Voyager aircraft are currently delivering the RAF's AAR capability and Air Transport capability. One of the key responsibilities held by the PT is for the assurance of the military aircraft airworthiness and safety, specifically the Type Design.
*A Voyager TAA is appointed at B1 level to discharge this responsibility and he/she is supported by Suitable Qualified and Experience Persons (SQEP) who are required to manage allocated parts of the assurance process.
*This work requires engineering scrutiny and assessment of the CQ basis, safety case and associated evidences to ensure that the required level of safety is achieved.
*Equally compliance to standards and regulatory requirements has also to be assured through the review and analysis processes.
*The requirement is for a SQEP to carry out the TAA 2 duties which is to provide engineering analysis and advice on the CQ requirements and on compliance evidences to support capability increases and updates that are introduced through Receiver Aircraft Trials programmes or via upgrades modification programmes.
*Additionally, programme management of the upgrades requirements forms a subpart of the duties that will require preparation, submission and progression of the respective Business Cases through to Governance sign off.
*This will also involve the generation and maintenance of the upgrades programme plans.
