The Organisation: The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is the government agency which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work, and are acceptably safe.

Purpose of Role:
An opportunity exists within the Projects Department. We require a Project Engineer to provide engineering support to the Institute, manage and control specific projects from concept through to completion. We are seeking to recruit someone with mechanical project engineering post graduate experience.

We require someone who can effectively manage allocated projects up to £250k in value using defined Project Management processes based upon PRINCE2 methodology. You will be able to Produce specifications and Invitations to Tender, evaluate tender returns, award contract and manage project to completion and handover including commissioning and validation.

Candidates should be educated to Post Graduate level, have a good knowledge of Microsoft word and excel. You will have experience of working in and around a laboratory environment and at the very least knowledge of High containment laboratories and GMP Clean rooms. Willing to undertake any further courses relevant to the role e.g. Quality and H&S training.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing projects in a controlled and compliant manner and in accordance with NIBSC procedures and protocols.
Compiling detailed specification from user requirements and turn them into tender documentation of new or refurbished facilities and their maintenance, commissioning and validation.
Responsibilities of working under PRINCE 2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) methodology or equivalent - to ensure projects are completed within timescales and on budget.
Assessing Risk & COSHH documentation as laid down within the Health and Safety legislation along with method statements as provided by contractors. Managing all contractors to ensure safety on site at all times.
Producing, defining, amending and managing NIBSC AutoCAD drawings so that they are kept current and controlled in accordance with NIBSC standards
Capturing project risks and issues and managing their resolutions.
Supervising commissioning and testing of equipment and/or air handling systems.
Stage reporting throughout a project which will be captured within weekly/monthly meetings.
Comprehend drawings and their applications.
Communication is crucial in this multi-tasked role with a range of differing priorities. Working with many internal customers throughout the Institute and dealing on behalf of the Institute with contractors, suppliers and external bodies.
