Project Engineer

MECHANICAL ENGINEER Contract opportunity to manage capital project construction for a well respected firm in Charleston, SC. Temp-to-Perm. Local candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage construction and completion of capital projects for industrial plants and facilitiesOversee, coordinate, and direct construction crafts and subcontractors in performing the work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and project budget and schedule
- Perform engineering duties in planning and designing equipment modifications, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment
- Confer with machine suppliers and engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and solve reliability issues, and provide technical information and support to maintenance
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew
- Solicit new business and provide technical customer service and support to manufacturing
- Write performance requirements for equipment and or engineering projects
- CAD and Technical design drawings: Develop concept and structural design drawings of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software

REQUIREMENTS

- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or academic equivalent
- Minimum 10+ years experience in construction of plant capital projects including mechanical, structural, and electrical including ability to investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew
- Ability to manage up to 10 craftsmen of mechanical, electrician, or civil structural personnel and/or two subcontractors for projects with values up to $1 million and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Need working knowledge of CAD to develop design drawings. A PLUS to have familiarity with MS Projects or other scheduling software
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
