Project Director - Funds/Budgets

Project Director - Funds/Budgets - Contract role working in Inner London, for 7 Months. We are looking for Project Director for our public sector client.

Job Title: Project Director

Location: Inner London

Contract Length: 7 Months Intially

ROLE

The successful candidate will need to:

- Confidently engage with senior members of pharmaceutical companies regarding the commercial and financial terms of the fund;
- Ensure that the investor group/Steering Group is effectively supported and a robust, realistic timetable is developed;
- Ensure that the UK Government's expert member of the Steering Group receives the advice and support he/she needs to enable him/her to act as an effective advocate of HMG;
- Update Ministers as required, showing strong judgement about which issues need to be escalated to the Delivery Board and to Ministers;
- Provide accountability to the Delivery Board for oversight of the project;
- Lead a team from mixed disciplines and from inside and outside the civil service to motivate and bring the best out of the team and deliver on this complex project
- Liaise with No 10, HM Treasury and other Government Departments as appropriate

Overall, the project leadership role provides a rare opportunity to develop commercial experience in a supported environment while working on a project of global significance.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

- Experience working with commercial, legal and financial advisers - with the ability to act as an intelligent client and provide constructive challenge where needed
- Experience of building productive relationships with Ministers, colleagues across Whitehall and with senior business executives including through strong account management with businesses;
- Excellent leadership skills and proven leadership experience, including across virtual teams without direct management control;
- Strong analysis and judgement, in order to develop a robust strategy for the next steps in the development of the programmes

DESIRABLE SKILLS

- familiar with working with the pharmaceutical sector and/or research and development;
- experience of working on projects involving commercial investment
