Project Controller SAP, ERP Systems and Defence

A Project Controller with SAP, ERP Systems and Defence experience is required to work on a twelve month contract (WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION) for our Defence client based in South Wales.

This is a 12 Month contract working for a UK leading defence client.

Overview of the Project Controller contract role

Our client are currently recruiting for a Project Controller this particular role has responsibility for the set-up, monitoring and control of a range of projects, all of which are generally business and product critical technology insertion and sustainment programmes. This role involves working closely with Engineering Project Teams and providing project office services to a Project Manager. It would be suitable for an individual with good administrative skills, who has had some exposure to formal Project Management techniques (eg as a Project Administrator) who now wishes to take the next step forward.

Key skills required for the Project Controller

A background within a formal Project Management environment and knowledge of a structured approach to the management of projects.
Experience of working in a formal Project Management environment from inception through to completion.
Familiarity with competence using an ERP system, knowledge and demonstrable practical experience of the SAP system would be of significant benefit.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A technical background in mechanical, process, chemical or similar Engineering industries would be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.
Familiarity with the issues surrounding import/export controls.
Experience of operating in a safety critical environment (Chemical Processing, Nuclear, Explosives etc).
Assisting in the development of the formal project work breakdown structures and timescale planning.
Liaison across the business to ensure required resources are available and committed to the projects.
Setting up the appropriate project control suite eg Budgets in SAP.
Creation of purchase requisitions within the business system (SAP).
Monitoring of progress and expenditure of projects.
Preparation and delivery of formal monthly report packs including monitoring and control of expenditure and provision of resource forecasts and calculation of ETC.
Providing regular updates and progress reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Maintaining Project Management documentation such as risk registers, project plans and reports.
Deputising for the Project Manager as required.

The role is based in South Wales - commutable from Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare, Pontypridd, Newport, Caldicot, Usk, Chepstow, Monmouth, Cwmbran, Blackwood, Pontypool and Abertillery with excellent access from Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Cheltenham, Gloucester.
