Project Control & Automation Engineer

NRL Opportuntiy; Project Control & Automation Engineer, Grangemouth

Our client currently has a requirement for a Project Control & Automation Engineer to be based at Grangemouth on Contract basis.
Job Purpose
* To deliver additional value to the Grangemouth businesses by providing technical lead for design for major new Automation Projects
Dimensions
* Designs and implements automation solutions which often have more than one potential solution. Uses own judgment and experience to select the solution.
* Works with process engineers, plant operators and other control engineers to find control solutions to ill defined business problems. Solutions are often one-off designs as opposed to off the shelf design. Benefit to business varies but could easily be EUR10M on an annualised basis.
* Works with process engineers, I/E engineers, operations' team, and project engineers to design, test and maintain IL rated safety solutions.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
* Chartered engineer (Chemical or Control), with extensive experience in Process control / Automation
* Strong technical expertise, including configuration and design knowledge, (specifically with Honeywell platforms for hardware and software and network design)
* Understanding of SIS technology
* High level of knowledge and understanding of alarm and user interface guidelines.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with Shift Operators, Shift Optimisation Leaders, Optimisation Engineers, management and third parties;
* Excellent communication and team working skills; to be able to deal with people in different disciplines/positions within the organization and work as a member of a multi-disciplined team and ensures common goals are achieved.
* Demonstrates high level of ability to identify business improvement possibilities, evaluate economics of potential solutions given wide range of complex technical problems
* Advanced understanding of Refining and/or Petrochemical (Ethylene, Ethanol) and/or Power generation processes and their commercial drivers and sources of value.
