We are currently recruiting for a contract Project Accounting Associate to perform timely, accurate and complete processing of Project Accounting transactions; thus ensuring the efficient operation of the PA budget distribution process and the efficient operation of the Project and Asset settlement processes.

The Project Accounting Associate has an important part to play:

- Ensure timely, accurate and complete processing of project accounting transactions including the control, distribution and release of budgets (>£600million per annum) for all capex and opex projects performed by all areas of STW including Water, Waste and IS
- Maintain the SAP processes and procedures for budget distribution and release, checking instructions from the relevant governance bodies and the agreed process rules
- Provide support to the management of the capital programme in SAP including the reconciliation of data for capital reporting and IRE reporting
- Monitor and review settlement rules for all projects, ensure consistency re PEAT sheet analysis, performing asset type analysis and tax analysis, and performing WBS closure
- Deal with asset capitalisations during peaks in demand
- Responsibility for maintaining the accuracy of settlement rules and financial postings in relation to infrastructure renewals accounting
- Support the Capital Accounting Manager with various month end and year end tasks (including the revaluation of the Current Cost Accounting Asset Register)

The Project Accounting Associate will have experience:

- A understanding of the importance of processing transactions efficiently, accurately and completely whilst working to tight deadlines
- An appreciation of the importance of the regulatory environment in which Severn Trent operate
- SAP experience, particularly of the Finance, Project Systems and Asset Accounting modules (desirable)

The Project Accounting Associate must demonstrate:

- Good planning and organisational skills
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to identify and implement process improvements
- The ability to work across teams
- Good communication skills
- Good IT skills eg Excel.

You will be part qualified and undertaking formal accountancy studies (ACCA, CIMA, AAT etc)
