Project Accountant - 6 months - Castle Donington - Negotiable Rate

A leading energy and utility client of Hyphen is looking for a Project Accountant to join their team in Castle Donington as part of a large scale Finance Project

Project Accountant will interact with senior managers and engineers within Capital Delivery, GTAM, ETAM, Commercial and Finance on a regular basis

Qualified/part qualified accountant with a UK recognised body or significant business experience
Graduate or wide ranging business experience

Key Accountabilities
They will utilise their financial skills and business experience to drive business performance, help deliver targets, and where necessary resolve technical accounting and commercial issues of a complex/high risk nature
They will drive performance in relation to the effective challenge and reporting of Investments
The successful applicant will be expected to support business managers whose decisions have a material impact on the financial performance of the Transmission Business
Financial, management and project accounting experience
Knowledge of National Grid financial systems and business activities
Resolving business and commercial issues supporting senior managers
Decision support (strategic and tactical) to the management team involved in the commitment of capital expenditure
Influence the optimal delivery of cost, value and cashflows in the UK Construction Directorate
Challenge and review of Gas Capex Business Plan and Regulatory submission for RIIO.
Support the Capital Investment Finance Analyst in using and developing Gas Capex business Models.
Appraisal of investment projects to ensure they are commercially justified, financially fit for purpose and economic and efficient from a regulatory perspective to drive achievement of financial targets
Respond dynamically to changes in the financial targets and work with the business to deliver results that achieve these targets
Provide line of sight for the senior managers in respect of capital expenditure to effectively manage the business finances
Identify key financial themes that need consideration and engage actively with the business to deliver effective and efficient solutions
Identification and pursuit of financial opportunities coupled with identification and mitigation of financial risks
Development of robust monthly forecasts together with challenge and review of actual results
Work closely with the business to develop a deliverable capital business plan
Detailed understanding and involvement in key projects to set the financial tone
Work with the business to ensure appropriate financial control frameworks are maintained and developed where appropriate
Ensure cost classifications are accurate and clearly understood to facilitate the correct analysis within financial and regulatory reporting of all investments
Build and maintain relationships with project managers/engineers, scheme team leaders and quantity surveyors to ensure accurate financial data is captured through a regular review process which challenges investment financial data
Support the Investment Management team in all decision support analysis and reporting activities
