*Project Accountant*

Accountable for working with the other senior finance analysts and finance managers to ensure effective development of the capability of the UK Gas Distribution finance team.

Perform the following tasks:
Investment appraisal
Responsible for supporting the appraisal of investment and project decisions, ensuring appropriate governance is applied and management are informed to make the right decisions and challenged to deliver the identified benefits
Responsible for coaching managers & staff within UK Gas Distribution to improve their financial management skills and enhance performance
Responsible for supporting the development, implementation and on-going effectiveness of the Strategy to Plan module in SAP with specific emphasis on capital monitoring
Responsible for working with relevant business managers from within UK Gas Distribution to challenge and review capital plans, budgets & forecasts, including internal service provider plans, budgets & forecasts
Planning, budgeting & forecasting
Responsible for developing, maintaining & implementing planning, budgeting & forecasting models (as appropriate)
Responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of the annual capital budget for UK Gas Distribution
Responsible for co-ordination and preparation of robust capital forecasts for current year
Responsible for ensuring that longer term capital expenditure forecasts are kept up to date
Reporting
Responsible for preparation of monthly reporting to DPSC and DNIC
Responsible for supporting the tracking of approvals against budget/plan
Responsible for supporting the delivery of appropriate management information to project managers
Responsible for supporting the annual regulatory reporting process with regard to capital expenditure
Responsible for providing insightful balance sheet reporting
Controlling
Responsible for liaising with Shared Services to ensure the accuracy of Gas Distribution UK balance sheet and depreciation calculations
In conjunction with the Shared Services governance team, responsible for ensuring compliance with Sarbox requirements.
