PROGRESS OPENEDGE DBA - VST, REPLICATION, DATASERVERS, REST ARCHITECTURE, SONIC MQ, FRENCH SPEAKING

MY CLIENT, A LEADING EUROPEAN CONSULTANCY, ARE LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED OPENEDGE DBA TO JOIN THEIR CLIENT FOR AN INITIAL 6 MONTH CONTRACT. THIS WILL BE BASED IN LUXEMBOURG, THE CONSULTANT WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK AND WRITE BOTH FRENCH AND ENGLISH.

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

- Practical experience in designing and validating database application models and code
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning production databases
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database and system issues
- Knowledge and experience of query languages: ABL/4GL, SQL
- Proven knowledge and experience of Scripting on Unix/Linux (Korn Shell, Python, Perl )
- Expert knowledge of indexing, and experience in index and statistics management
- Ability to understand and write technical documentation in English

TECHNICAL

- Very good knowledge of Progress OpenEdge functionalities (10.x, 11.x)
- Knowledge of advanced features of Progress OpenEdge database technology is a strong differentiator: VST, Replication, DataServers, REST architecture, Sonic MQ
- Knowledge of other database technologies is a plus: Oracle, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ
- Good knowledge of Database modelling principles and tools (Mega, ErWin, )
- Good knowledge of monitoring tools (OpenEdge Management, Patrol )
- Good knowledge of operating systems (AIX 6.1, Solaris 10, Windows 2008/2012)
- Good knowledge of Scripting languages (Korn Shell, Python, Perl )
