Progress DBA - Operational & BAU Support

This leading Australian organisation is a genuine leader and innovator of services and technology in its field and they are looking for an experienced, dynamic production DBA to join their team. Reporting to the DBA Team Leader and working with other DBAs in the team you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, support and security of a range ofProgress production databases.

Specific responsibilities and challenges will include:

- Installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting 24x7 production databases and environments;
- Implementing Database server security and configuring backups, restores for DB and transaction logs;
- Writing, maintaining and updating SQL, and various scripts;
- Working with first and second level support staff to analyse, resolve and fix production database issues and incidents following the ITIL support framework;
- Monitoring databases ensuring they are meeting SLAs for uptime, performance and capacity;
- Implementing and maintaining DRP processes and procedures, and;
- Supporting the production environment as part of the 24x7 on call roster.

This is a large database environment that is critical to the efficient running of the organisation so to qualify you will be able to demonstrate:

- 3 to 5 years experience as a production DBA supporting a large and complex Progress database environment;
- Advanced database problem solving ability under pressure;
- Experience in database Scripting, automation and performance monitoring;
- Ability and commitment to working on call after hours as required;
- Experience working in an ITIL compliant environment, and
- Ability and willingness to pick up and apply new technologies.
