FOR A PROJECT WITH THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PROGRAMMER (PHP/PYTHON)
BACKGROUND
CERT-EU wants to extend a web portal already used in other organizations with the same scope of work with restricted access over the Internet, designed to share information on malicious software within a close community.
SOME KEY FEATURES OF THIS DEVELOPMENT ARE:
- The application hosts sensitive data and has to be developed with security in mind (eg encryption, role-based access control, auditing etc.).
- The application is currently a community-developed project
- Users log on and input data in the form of key-value pairs.
- Information is stored in a MySQL database with the use of a simplified data scheme (the data scheme will require extending at some point in the development cycle).
- The development relies on the CakePHP framework and implements the MVC (model-view-controller) technique.
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED
- The requirement is for a Linux, Apache, My-SQL and PHP (LAMP) developer to provide direct support in all technical phases of the implementation of the web portal described in section 1.
- The contractor will contribute to the modifications of the existing portal - using all the existing tools and techniques like CakePHP.
- Maintenance of existing Python scripts or new scripts development in Python for existing tools that support CERT-EU services.
- All the necessary background documentation will be provided by the CERT-EU during the execution of the project.
REQUIRED SKILLSET
THE PROFILE OF THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with PHP programming with MySQL Back End;
- Experience with MVC programming model;
- Knowledge of security problems with web programming and secure coding practices;
- Python knowledge is required for the maintenance or new of administration scripts
THE PROFILE OF THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience with CakePHP;
- Able to improve presentation layer of the web site to adapt it to a corporate image (knowledge of CSS style sheets and sense of esthetics)
- Experience in software testing (unit testing)
LOCATION: Work will be exclusively conducted from the CERT-EU premises.
TIMELINES: The work is to start as soon as possible.
