Programmer Client Server

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze business requirement, raw data to produce a structured relational and/or dimensional data model that resonates with the user requirement and document the technical/functional requirement into standardized templates that facilitate easy and defect free development.
Understand business concepts behind reporting specifications.
Conduct Business User/End User Training for Cognos reports.
Develop Framework Manager Models, BI Reports and Dashboards in IBM Cognos10 and higher.
Produce technical design documentation including logical data models and detailed reporting specification consistent with reporting requirement.
Liaison with internal team of business analysts, project managers, architects, developers and infrastructure teams to ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are met.
Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for report functions/specification.
Knowledge of the Cognos reporting tool suite (Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Framework Manager, Event studio, Metrics Studio, Cognos cubes, Cognos SDK).
Strong knowledge of Application Server and Web Servers and Enterprise Architecture
Develop and implement test plans to ensure successful delivery of a project.
Review existing test plans and identify any gaps against functional/nonfunctional requirement.
Strong understanding of database & SQL. Should be able to design Database schemas to support report design as well as support ETL load.
Design and develop ETL scripts to load and move data across different mart/farms.
Develop ETL load scripts in SQL and Oracle database. Use of ETL tool viz. Informatica desired.
Experience with improving query performance and analysing Cognos Query and Query.
Create SQL queries against Oracle/SQL Server for data profiling, troubleshooting and tactical ad hoc reporting.
Programming language skills in PL/SQL, Java, Cognos, Unix Shell Scripts

SKILLS:

REQUIREMENTS:
Hands on experience in developing in Cognos 10 and higher BI Suite of Tools
Experience in DMR modelling best practices and techniques
Experience in developing OLAP cubes for Cognos BI Reporting
Strong metadata modelling skills utilizing Framework Manager
Experience in dash boarding/charting capabilities on Hadoop datasets using Hive and Impala
Experience in Cognos Insight and Active reports

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Science
7+ years' experience in IT and business intelligence
5+ years' experience in Health Care/Pharmaceutical industry
5+ years overall Cognos BI experience
Strong knowledge in data warehousing concepts
Understand Logical and Physical data modelling best practices and techniques
Strong data modelling experience with multi-dimensional cubes, balanced/ragged hierarchies, logical/physical entity, 3nf, and marts/star/snowflake
Experience in developing slowly changing dimensions, error handling and performance tuning
Programming language skills in PL/SQL, Java, Cognos, Unix Shell Scripts
