PROGRAMME MANAGER, NHS, END OF LIFE CARE

Programme Manager required to act a consultant for an end of life care service redesign programme. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the end of life care programme. The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate. The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.

Experience of effectively managing risks

Experience of managing a national, high profile programme

Subject-specific knowledge of end of life care strategy and programmes

Experience of working with patients and carers and the public to elicit views about sensitive subjects particularly from disadvantaged groups

Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent

Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development

Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement

Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, the Commissioning Board and individual provider and commissioning organisations

Member of relevant professional body

Skills and Capabilities

Ability to develop effective working relationships and engage with stakeholders

Politically astute and aware of the wider impact of the project/programme

Ability to effectively work with partners to achieve a common goal

Ability to use informed persuasion to influence others.
