Program Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

- The Project Engineer is accountable for successfully leading cross functional teams to introduce a new product, product family, or process by planning and managing the development project/program.
- The Project Engineer's responsibilities include development of solutions for complex engineering technical problems; providing focus on and communicating about the business and financial aspects of the project; and providing a supportive work environment for the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Managing the execution of hydraulic cylinder new product development projects from conception through delivery, including development of project plans, coordination of team tasks, monitoring project performance, ensuring product quality, managing cost of components and assemblies, and meeting customer milestones and key dates.
- Ensuring that customer requirements are well defined and agreed by the project execution team includes understanding customer expectations for development time and product delivery time.
- Developing, maintaining and managing a robust project plan that includes CPPD tasks, quality deliverables, and project milestones; communicating the plan and critical path(s) to team members and to the customer; making commitments based on the plan and ensuring those commitments are met.
- Projecting and monitoring team work load and contributing to budgeting process
- Assessing and understanding project risks and facilitating risk management to ensure quality throughout the project life cycle
- Communicating technical information in a concise and accurate manner to customers, suppliers, other teams, and when required, other business units.
- Providing timely, regular, effective overview communications as to the project progress, issues management, risks and mitigation activities, project performance, cost and other metrics
- Making sound decisions for the project team and its delivery of requirements. Types of decisions will cover or relate to all aspects of a project including negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, serviceability, sales and customer perception.
- Working as an individual contributor and leading team tasks, when applicable.
- Total cost management including establishing cost commitments, monitoring cost of components and group levels, communicating and managing all cost assumptions through the life of the program.
- Candidate is accountable to meet project cost commitments.

SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS

- Requires a Bachelors degree in engineering and a minimum of 5 years of engineering project management experience or a Masters degree in engineering and at least 4 years of high level project management or research team leadership experience
- Must have experience in using root cause corrective action process or similar problem solving disciplines/methodologies.
- Must be familiar with and demonstrate ability or experience in applying project management disciplines and tools.
- Must have experience in managing product cost structures and in establishing and meeting cost commitments.
- Must have knowledge of key manufacturing cost drivers.
- Requires a minimum of 3 years experience managing projects in a manufacturing related environment.

DESIRED

- Automotive or aerospace industry new product introduction and launch or product development experience
- Knowledge of APQP tools and methods and their appropriate application
- Engineering experience in mobile hydraulics applications, -able to manage multiple projects with varying level of priority, -able to articulate the critical milestones of a project
- Excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts
- Able to contribute to the design of complex components, subsystems or processes
- Ability to manage changing customer requirements during the project, and ability to maintain project timelines while managing changing requirements.
