Production Support Engineer

This role is for a trade support analyst for a major financial firm in downtown Chicago. This firm is looking to bring someone onto their trade support team focusing on the risk space with a strong computer science background. This person should be coming from a financial background but must have excellent technical and communication skills.

Role Responsibilities:

The following are key responsibilities fulfilled by a support analyst in this role

* Point of contact between traders, developers, risk, and QA teams
* Monitoring and alerting of critical trading system environments
* Proactive identification and resolution of problem hotspots
* Development of tools and driving efficiency/stability improvements (Python and SQL)
* Troubleshooting of complex systems issues
* Release implementation and post-release testing
* Build and maintain strong partnerships with business stakeholders, application development personnel, and infrastructure contacts
* Accurate tracking of support effort to enable effective management reporting

Technical Skills:

* Python or Perl scripting skills
* Unix/Linux background
* Shell scripting
* SQL (writing multiple queries, joining tables, etc.)
* Any programming language background beneficial

Other Preferred Skills

- Financial background a plus (Risk is most benefitial, Rates and currencies, fixed income, commodities, derivatives, banking)
- Financial risk knowledge
- Trading background and connectivity knowledge (FIX)
