RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervises hourly employees in a manufacturing environment: plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures. Improves working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increases subordinates'skills and capabilities.
- Assists Shift Superintendent in improving production, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, employee relations, and performance management.
- Ensures effective employee relations.
- Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
- Responsible for corrective action of employees, counseling and disciplining, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Schedules and assigns employees and follows up on work results.
- Manages department priorities.
- Generates production records, including materials produced, materials used, scrap, waste, and defects, production rates, etc.
- Responsible for confirming product data captured during production is correct, accurate and filed.
- Maintains proper inventory levels.
- Trains employees in the areas of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, and OSHA regulations.
- Provides support and back-up to supporting areas.
- Responsible for the quality of work performed and for identifying and documenting quality problems for corrective action and prevention of non-conforming product
- Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS

Preferred candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Food Science or appropriate fields that include business management, agribusiness, and science. Must have at least 2 years of experience in supervision/management. Preferred candidates should have food industry experience.
