Our client is a large & successful FMCG company, with a range of market leading products. Due to growth, they are looking for a Production/Factory Manager to join their team on a 6 months basis. The successful candidate should have experience within food production management.

MAIN DUTIES:

- Ensure the correct machine configuration is in place for the day's planned production
- Ensure the efficient running of all machinery and manage any planned maintenance with the Site Engineer
- Contribute towards proposals for future plant development
- Ensure mixes are flavoured & transferred according to the plan and recipes
- Ensure product specifications are adhered to in the most efficient way possible
- Participate in the development of new products
- Assist with samples and product trials as required
- Ensure all production targets are achieved
- Monitor overrun
- Complete quality, weight and temperature checks
- Minimise waste
- Produce KPI information
- Ensure all performance data is recorded and used to promote performance improvement
- Ensure that all staff follow the HACCP procedures
- Ensure that plant and equipment is cleaned according to the agreed hygiene schedules
- Conduct weekly GMP audits
- Liaise with Technical Manager on audit corrections/improvements/product process issues
- Motivate and engage staff to achieve their full potential & commitment
- Ensure cascade of communication to all levels
- Ensure sufficient numbers of trained staff and manage cover for breaks, absence & holidays
- Identify any training needs and plan to meet these
- Participate in risk assessments for all production areas
- Drive safety awareness
- Recommend improvements in safety where needed and escalate any safety issues
- To ensure due diligence and that all paperwork is completed accurately and on time
- Ensure factory and site is locked and secure on a daily basis

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

- Competency at a management level within a food manufacturing environment
- Competency in a range of production tasks/ pasteurisation processes
- Knowledge and understanding of production plant machinery and its operation
- Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene and health and safety in a food production environment
- Some knowledge of using Microsoft Office software
- Flexible, hands on and leads from the front
- Strong management skills and leadership qualities
- Analytical - able to problem solve
- Good standard of numeracy
- High level of attention to detail
- Passionate about quality
- Able to manage tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
