Product Manager (Energy/Utilities)

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join one of the largest energy providers within the UK. This role sits in the public facing area of the business, supplying millions of residential homes with electricity and gas. The business is embracing new legislation and sustainability of energy, making the development of consumer products an exciting opportunity. The Product Manager works within the marketing product development team and plays a vital role in the evaluation and development of products for the residential market. The team are required to develop propositions to existing customers which drive growth and profitability. The role undertakes sufficient activity to support 'proof of concept' and developing the market for low carbon products through evaluation, proposition, business case, sourcing partners, market research and understanding the requirement of an excellent customer journey. The role also requires an ongoing management of existing low carbon product which may require continual enhancement. To be successful in the role you will be educated to a high degree level and/or possess the equivalent work experience. You will have experience of conducting market and competitor research. You will be customer focused and have an ability to understand the dynamic interaction between customers, competitors and operational infrastructures. A good understanding of the energy industry, low carbon policy (e.g. Green Deal) would be an asset; however experience developing and launching intangible products would be a highly desirable. There will be a key requirement to work collaboratively within the team, and the wider stakeholders within the business through the product development process. Emphasis will be placed on analytical and communication skills, to ensure robust evaluation and appraisal of products and services, either in the market, post implementation or at concept stage. A flexible approach is vital to ensure that projects and key deliverables are prioritised and met. Excellent communication and organisation skills are essential with a positive can do attitude.
