Product Designer

Our client in San Mateo, CA is seeking an experienced Product Designer for an exciting opportunity. As a Product Designer, our client is looking for a very talented, innovative, smart, passionate product designer to join a fantastic, highly motivated team responsible for the leading content management system on the .NET platform.  As a Web Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from brainstorming the next great product innovation to tweaking pixels right before launch. You will be expected to utilize your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills, and you will own the experience for a wide area of the product.

Client Details:  Our client is the world's leading CMS and web application framework for the Microsoft ecosystem.  Our open source and commercial products are easy to use, extensible and power over 700,000 websites globally.  In the last few years our products have been downloaded over 7 million times.  We are now building a high volume, fast growing commercial business that complements the open source model, supported by an online store today which has over 10,000 add-ons used by developers to design, build and deploy world-class websites quickly and simply.

PRODUCT DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for our 800+ million users
- Design flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
- Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
- Give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise product quality
- Partner with our Senior Product Designer, PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of the entire product life cycle.
- Offer new ideas and communicate effectively on improving overall experience of company product, web sites, and services

PRODUCT DESIGNER QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

- 3+ years professional web product design experience
- Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and passionate about web application usability
- Proven talent of creating fresh, unique and professional designs
- Excellent communication and presentations skills
- Compelling online portfolio of web design and UX work
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Solid knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and HTML editor software (Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, TextMate, etc.)

DESIRABLE:

- Ability to create pixel perfect designs and HTML/CSS code
- Understanding of mobile (phones and tablets) user experience designs
- Experience in Javascript and jQuery
- Familiarity with web-based CMS landscape

EDUCATION:

BA/BS Required

Specialization in user interface/user experience design
