Product Design Engineer

My client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a project at very early concept stage and see the project through to manufacture, therefore a very strong Engineering core is vital to the role as you will need to develop concepts through to credible products in the medical market based on sound engineering principles.

Below is a more detailed requirement for the role:

Your core responsibilities are:
* Mechanical design and development of medical diagnostic products, turning product ideas and user needs into beautiful, cost-effective, high quality product designs
* Focus on early-stage product concepts, demonstrating technical and cost feasibility of both disposable components and instrumentation
* Focus on low-cost, high manufacture volume designs and manufacturing processes
* Mechanical design and development of test rigs and fixtures. Liaising with suppliers to specify and procure parts for development. Building test rigs and prototypes, carrying out and documenting test work

Your profile:
* HND/Degree qualified in a suitable technical/design discipline
* Ability to develop early stage concepts into realistic and credible designs based on sound engineering principles
* Strong attention to detail
* Proficient user of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred)
* Significant hands-on experience of designing, developing and manufacturing consumer or medical products for manufacture in high volume
* Familiar with manufacturing processes for high volume product manufacture
* Highly motivated and self-starting, able to define and organize your own work
* Team player, able to work alongside and support other engineers and scientists
* Familiarity with Regulatory and Quality Management systems for medical device development an advantage but not essential
