Product Design Engineer

Leading manufacturer of consumer cooking products has an immediate need for a Sr. Product Design Engineer position for a Temp to Perm position in their Columbus, GA office. Responsibilities to include the design, development and testing process for new products, make improvements to existing products, analyze and solve technical problems and provides solutions on current and future products. Steel metal design as well as injection or blow molding experience is a must have.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- New product development and/or modification of existing product projects
- Oversee all aspects of products from initial concepts to finished products
- Will establish time lines for completion of all activities associated with assigned projects and will coordinate with the various departments involved in the completion of projects within timeframes established
- Analyze research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal
- Prepare product layout and detailed drawings and schematics as well as initial BOM's for contract factories
- Coordinate the manufacturing or building of prototype products
- Plan and develop experimental test programs and conducts precertification tests with quality personnel
- Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software (Solidworks) and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
- Communicate with Asian manufacturing facilities on new product manufacturing and prototype development

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years related experience in product design including product prototypes
- Proficient in designing with Solidworks
- Must have experience with sheet metal and injection mold design
- Experience in consumer product development (Electric or gas ranges, HVAC units, etc)
- Team lead/mentoring experience on a design team
- Develop test procedures to test new and current product projects to determine what if any changes should be made with specific products
- Experience working with and communicating with Asian manufacturing facilities
