Product Design Engineer

Automotive Product Design Engineers are needed for a leading Automotive Manufacturer in Southeast Michigan. These are long-term contract positions with benefits lasting one year with the possibility of renewal. Three positions open. You must have automotive components experience, preferably with chassis or power steering systems. Recent graduates welcome to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- You will be responsible for the design, development, and release of hydraulic and/ or electric power steering systems.
- Interact with suppliers, manufacturing plants and Purchasing for the success of product design and production.
- You will work closely with both internal resources and external suppliers and customers to deliver a system that meets or exceeds the functional objectives for performance, cost, weight, and quality as defined by the vehicle program.

REQUIREMENTS

- You must have at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automotive
- Must have some automotive components, steering or chassis design and development experience. At least 3 years preferred, however, will consider new graduates with relevant experience, training or internships.
- Strong communication skills, computer skills with AutoCAD design software and MS Office programs.
- Experience with Advance Quality tools such as DFMEA, DVPR, Function Models, DFSS, and Robust Design Processes, NX or Catia are pluses, but not required.
- You must understand design and development process.
