PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST: MARINE FUEL OIL/CRUDE OIL: LEADING SHIPPING COMPANY

World Leading Global Energy Trading Company has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to work within the Marine Fuel area of the Shipping company and to be the Buyer responsible for the procurement of marine fuel for the global Trading fleet.

The role will involve resourcing GTn fuel requirements both through the in-house bunker network and the Third Party market place. The Value of bunkers purchased is USD600m per annum. 1100 deals. 100+ ships. Bunker fuel is a significant variable cost that is affected by local and international supply and demand market fluctuations. Close monitoring of the bunker, fuel oil and crude market is essential.

This will involve assisting Freight traders in assessing business opportunities through an up to date knowledge of bunker specification, suppliers and market prices; Providing advice on fuel availability to assist with the decision making process for vessel programming and acquisition of time charter ships; To provide stock awareness, purchase, administration and provision of cost and operational advice; To administer and manage term purchase contracts and agreements through regular monitoring and evaluation; To identify and assist with all claims arising from bunker purchase contracts. eg. Short deliveries, Specification shortfalls; Fuel testing contract monitoring; Plan and provide advice on the relative economics of possible bunkering options; Manage post-deal activities aimed at ensuring value for money; Ensure the Barging Policy is adhered to.

You need to have specialist Procurement experience gained within the Shipping and Trading sector with previous roles including working in a similar capacity in order ensure strong understanding of Fuel Oils and Crude Markets along with a solid understanding of Global procurement contracts and policies. An accreditation with Procurement would also be very helpful.

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
