The majority of the role will be based around the provision of a professional tendering service to the department and across the council. Day-to-day the Procurement Officer will be providing leadership, advice and will implement procurement best practice to deliver tendering projects in accordance with the Council's financial regulations, Standing Orders, Procurement guide and European and UK law. The successful candidate will also be required to regularly engage with managers and officers of varying disciplines on a regular basis.
The Key Objectives of this assignment are ultimately to help the council reach their aspiration to transform procurement.
The suitable Procurement Officer will be qualified to a minimum of a PO1 grade, have an in depth knowledge of Best Practice Tendering Procedures and previous experience of tendering and managing contracts. Previous experience of compiling reports and managing statistical information is also essential.
Desirable qualities include a PRINCE2 qualification, excellent stakeholder engagement and the ability to think strategically.
