Procurement Officer

An experienced Procurement Officer is needed to support a county council in the delivery of a first class Public Health service.

This is an opportunity for an innovative Procurement specialist to gain valuable public health and public sector experience working on Health services that are being procured under such processes and regulations for the first time. This will provide a challenging, interesting and developing environment where you will be part of a fast paced, responsive team delivering a large degree of change and development and providing market leading services.

Your day-to-day work will consist of:

- Using an E-procurement portal to manage the tender and contract process for projects of varying complexity and size through, whilst working within with prescribed internal/external and European procurement objectives and regulations
- Vetting contractors to establish that they are financially sound and good trading partners
- Ensuring that best value for customers is always achieved.
- Supporting clients in managing supplier relationships and resolving disputes or contract compliance issues
- Researching markets, supply chains and local/national procurement best practice to make relevant recommendations to senior management
- Liaising directly with suppliers, customers and partners to manage operational and technical procurement matters and issues whilst escalating more complex issues when needed.

You need to demonstrate:

- Relevant technical procurement knowledge and experience, preferably supported by a relevant professional qualification or accreditation
- Understanding of different public sector procurement processes
- Solid achievements in contract management that have delivered improvement and/or savings
- Exceptional communication skills that have allowed you to quickly earn trust and build effective working relationships that deliver results.
