Procurement Officer

PROCUREMENT OFFICER, BANBURY, £MARKET RATE, 3 MONTHS

My client, based in Banbury is looking for a Procurement Officer to lead, develop manage and monitor my client's procurement policies, processes and procedures. As Procurement Officer you will also be responsible for implementing, contract managing and supporting departments with corporate contracts.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER, YOU WILL ALSO CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING:

- Ensure the provision of professional and relevant procurement advice and support to all departments
- Assist in the development of the procurement strategy, review and monitor the Procurement Plan
- Provide procurement support and timely responses and to keep the contracts register updated and published regularly on the Internet
- To deputise for the Corporate Procurement Manager in their absence

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

- Professional member of the CIPS or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years' experience of identifying cost/saving efficiencies within contracts
- Knowledge of current procurement practices adopted within local government
- Knowledge of environmental, social and economic factors involved in sustainable procurement
- Proven negotiating skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with others at all levels
- Thorough understanding of OJEU and associated practices
