An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Manager based in Reading.

You will act as Subcontracts/Procurement lead in the Networks Innovation team, ensuring pull through of financially viable innovations to benefit the Business As Usual Networks team. Managing partners and suppliers from Cradle to crave, so tender through successful end delivery of projects. More broadly ensuring the successful commercial delivery of project/s, negotiating contracts, dealing with disputes as they arise and acting as guide for non-procurement/commercial staff on procurement regulation adherence and compliance with innovation funding streams.

Your responsibilities will extend to supporting the Commercial and Procurement Manager Networks in the development and execution of contracting, supply chain, procurement and commercial strategies that are aligned with business drivers. You will understand and support the development of strategic relationships with key partners/suppliers and effectively manage key interfaces with points of contact on projects and contracts.

You will run formal tenders on behalf of the innovations team, in accordance with the Procurement manual which will include all commercial, business and legal project risks in contracts and negotiate terms and conditions including payment terms to ensure ongoing VFM throughout the lifetime of the contract.

You will deliver all projects/contracts within approved budget authorisations and manage all post contract commercial matters and multiple internal stakeholder relationships, assisting the Head of Asset Management and Innovation Project Leads in promoting innovations being investigated.

To be successful in this role, you should understand the financial aspects and implications of complex projects and the commercial impact of decisions and their implications on the procurement process. You should understand the intricacies of working with SME's and Universities, in particular dealing with organisations who are the sole suppliers of a product/service globally.

You should have a good knowledge of formal tendering processes and contract structure/documentation. You should have a high level of numeracy and ability to interpret numerical data and a high level of competence in drafting and interpreting commercial contracts. You should have excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to work to deadlines and be able to change priorities whilst managing your own time effectively.

You should have the ability to gain commitment and buy in with excellent communication and presentation skills. You should be enthusiastic and have strong people management skills. Qualified to a degree level or equivalent direct entry to a recognised professional body, you should have substantial post qualifying experience in a commercial/procurement department. You should have extensive working knowledge in the relevant conditions of contract and have a track record in Stakeholder Management with strong communication skills. Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential for this role.
