Procurement Manager – 6 Month Contract - £400 per day

Can you think creatively in a commercial environment? Do you have experience of direct and indirect purchasing across a broad range of purchasing categories? If yes then this newly created role at this global business could be for you. This role requires commercial flair, the ability to negotiate smartly, an engaging style of communication with peers and stake-holders and, confidence with change management.

This role is offered on a 6 month fixed term contract either as a salary or a day rate. This role is available from May 2015. There is the potential for this role to be extended to 12 months or permanent based upon the successful delivery of the programme.

The main focus of this role is to operate within a wide range of procurement activities across our business for all external spend - this ranges from marketing and advertising, to IT and professional services, from Facilities Management through to travel and office supplies.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, you will use your expertise to ensure that the business obtains value for money for the goods and services that it procures. You will act as an agent for change across selected areas in the business, ensuring effective procurement of goods and services and bringing best practice and a commercial focus. This would incorporate everything from procurement strategy, to supplier negotiations and through to contracting and supplier performance management.

This role would best suit someone with previous extensive procurement experience in a number of direct and indirect categories, seeking a challenge and an opportunity to shape a brand new role and function. Diplomatic and tactful, the successful candidate will have a hands-on approach as well as the ability to operate strategically and influence their key stakeholders in the business.

Key accountabilities will include:

- Identifying and delivering value for money/efficiency opportunities through procurement
- Support rolling out a new fit for purpose procurement policy
- Developing sourcing and category plans to support the business needs
- Leading and supporting negotiations, supplier selection and contracting
- Advising and guiding relevant stakeholders concerning all procurement matters
- Ensure the business achieves value from contracts and supplier management.

Key requirements:

- Successful history of strategic sourcing and savings delivery
- Demonstrable commercial acumen combined with negotiation skills
- Demonstrate ability to influence stakeholders up to board level.
- Ability to analyse, evaluate and implement recommendations
- Ability to use initiative to resolve multi-discipline or multi-functional issues
- Degree level or relevant qualifications (preferably MCIPS)
