Procurement Manager

Advantage Technical resourcing are looking for a Procurement Manager for a 6 month contract based in Portsmouth.

Purpose of Role
To direct and manage the PROCUREMENT activities associated with a defined area. This includes supporting the development of strategies with the associated engagement and management of projects ensuring management and development of team members to drive performance

KEY LEADERSHIP/PEOPLE MGMT SKILLS

- Ability to project manage an evolving work scope and to effect positive cooperation from Customers, Suppliers and colleagues and to direct within the team, the required strategies to be implemented for the successful contracting methodologies
- Appreciation of lean tools/6 sigma principles

KEY INTERPERSONAL/BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS

- Ability to build positive and effective relationships with Customers, Suppliers and colleagues, utilising the appropriate behaviours including Prime-sub relationships, partnering etc.
- Accessible and manage/support through 'Go-Look-See'
- Work as lead to support colleagues in areas of expertise
- Demonstrate the 9 leadership behaviours
- People Development incl. succession planning

KEY MENTAL/ANALYTICAL SKILLS AND CHALLENGES

- Attention to detail in the identification and assessment of evolving workload and tender responses. To develop effective strategies for negotiating with suppliers.
- Positive lateral thinking to develop innovative organisational and supplier solutions.
- Identification & relentless elimination of waste in all forms
- Excellent practical problem solving skills (PPS)
- Manage budgets and interpret financial data.
- Maintain knowledge and keep abreast of Logistics/Supply Chain/Procurement initiatives and updates
- Ensure awareness of Project management performance/developments
