Procurement Category Lead

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a PROCUREMENT CATEGORY LEAD to join our client in New York, NY.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Category Lead, based in New York, manages all aspects of global procurement and reports to the Global Head of Procurement in the US. The incumbent supports the global team of procurement specialists and serves as a backup-up for the entire group concerning procurement policies, practices, and supplier management - both direct and indirect - across all spend categories. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- The incumbent will be expected to help formulate, communicate, execute policies, and collaborate closely with management and colleagues in procurement and finance, legal, business development, and client technical organizations.
- Liaise with Global Head of Procurement to augment the global procurement organization.
- Cultivate key stakeholder relationships with business-unit customers and other internal constituents in-region.
- Manage the procurement needs of all business groups, especially technical infrastructure organization, as a thought-partner and problem-solver.
- Develop, implement and maintain the best possible sourcing strategies related to all categories (hardware, software, professional services, facilities, telecommunications, travel, marketing, human resources, and financial services).
- Research, identify and qualify potential strategic suppliers.
- Rationalize supplier mix of Approved and Preferred sources continually, recommending changes when needed to balance risk and exposure while driving savings.
- Lead the supplier-selection process though all procurement phases.
- Develop requirements, construct, distribute and manage all RFx events.
- Execute cost-, quality-, flexibility-, service- and risk analyses.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate guidelines.
- Negotiate all commercial contracts with skill and consummate business acumen.
- Lead/coordinate information technology contracting in Nordics, including but not limited to licensing, purchase, services, and telecommunications agreements.
- Manage supplier performance via key performance indicators and periodic performance reviews to achieve year-over-year improvements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Fluency in regional languages would be a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven project management skills across all of the above-mentioned procurement phases - very organized, results-oriented, and flexible.
- Proven relationship and team-building skills, preferably as a manager of others, in a loosely structured environment.
- Familiarity with sourcing/procurement terminology and practices.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision once goals and objectives are established with management.
- Ability to think and operate strategically, and manage a regional team according to that "big picture" view.
- Excellent oral and written communication and persuasive skills, with a good sense for appropriate communication across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of productivity tools; aptitude for using these to communicate and advocate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors degree is required; Masters degree in a relevant field or a law degree a plus.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a combination of corporate procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier and contract management.
- Broad-based business experience, including an IT background, would be a plus.
- Employment at international companies and in a global operating environment.
- Experience with using IT tools to share and communicate information across a geographically diverse organization.
- Experience with establishing and administering eSourcing or supplier relationship management systems would be a plus.
