Procurement Business Partner

Background

Our Central Government client is looking to take on a Procurement Business Partner to work a 3 month contract based in London.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

*Gain an in depth understanding of Directorate's core business and to advise on the most effective commercial models that can deliver those requirements
*To act as the first point of contact for procurement and commercial expertise for the Department
*Provide advice on the management of existing agreements/contracts for services, focusing on issue resolution but also developing a supplier relationship management offer to the business
*Demonstrating how the value the procurement function can contribute to the work of the Department
*Promoting Department procurement policy and best practice ensuring compliance that mitigates risk
*Provide appropriate benchmarking on costs and advise teams on budgets and projected costs
*Work effectively with colleagues in the Procurement function, handing work over at the appropriate point in the project life cycle
*Engage with the Pan Government team to ensure implementation of the centralisation of the procurement of common good and services.

Skills/Experience Required

*Market awareness - understanding of the competitive market in which suppliers operate.
*Strategic Awareness - the ability to think strategically, articulating a clear vision and aligning the procurement strategy to the Organisation's business objectives
*Procurement Processes - understanding procurement practices and processes, and the ability to apply them
And is
*A full member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS- Level 6) or equivalent eg an MBA in Supply Chain Management
*Experienced in contracting within the public sector and the relevant legal considerations

Formal Qualifications Required

MCIPS - Level 6 or equivalent
