Process Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

- Sr. Process Tech I position is available in a fast-paced solution chemistry laboratory.
- Majority of time is spent in the lab preparing media/buffers for on-site Research & Development laboratories.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Understand all aspects of media/buffer formulation and the use of related equipment
- Perform routine tasks following established SOPs and/or guidance of Supervisor/designee.
- Prepare custom formulations to include calculating required chemical concentrations, dilutions and other basic chemistry calculations.
- Achieve consistent results by applying knowledge of fundamental lab methods and skills.
- Strive for Right First Time through flawless execution and ownership of the process.
- Follow all documentation according to established procedures.
- Perform basic laboratory data entry and analysis.
- Understand and apply proper handling of chemicals and safety precautions.
- Responsible for meeting all training requirements on time
- Identify problems such as equipment malfunction Learn to develop problem-solving skills with focus on routine problems in consultation with Supervisor (or designee).
- Able to answer general questions posed by scientific community.
- Brings up ideas to better serve customers, improve quality and efficiency.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility. This includes (but is not limited to) periodic cleaning of pH meters, balances, conductivity meter, water bath, osmometer, and BSC and Fume hoods.
- Support all aspects of glassware processing and understand the use of related equipment following associated documentation and established SOPs.

SKILLS:

REQUIREMENTS:

- Computer skills are required for data entry.
- Familiar with Microsoft applications a plus.
- Proficient in basic math and algebra
- Strong oral and written communications skills are desired.
- Requires the moving of heavy equipment and the ability to lift 50 pounds
- This position requires an understanding of basic chemistry and laboratory equipment operation.
- Candidate must understand the rationale behind SOPs and formulation records including the need for strict adherence to established procedures.
- The candidate must be organized, highly motivated and flexible.

- The position requires flexibility in changing work requirements such as schedule, location and type of work.

EDUCATION:

- High School with 2-4 years. experience in the pharmaceutical industry OR
- Associate Science degree/Biotech Certificate with 0-2 years. experience in the pharmaceutical industry
