Process Engineer

Are you an experienced Process Engineer seeking a new opportunity? An exciting contract has arisen to join a successful and expanding team within the Nuclear Industry. The role is an excellent opportunity to work in the centre of excellence for the management of Urenco materials, decommissioning and recycling.

The successful candidate will be working in Engineering and design development of plant processes for the Legacy Cylinder Facility at Capenhurst. The plant includes the transfer and filtration of UF6, washing of emptied cylinders and the facilities for uranium recovery and waste/effluent disposal.

Key Objectives
The role holder will report to the Lead Process Engineer and will support the engineering team in ensuring the delivery of the project to time and budget.

Deliverables (for contract)
* Design and specification of process systems, UF6 transfer, UF6 cylinder washing, waste and effluent treatment. Production of deliverables such as P&IDs, Calculations and System Descriptions. Identification of project requirements, generation and assessment of options and assessment in terms of technical merit, cost, programme, safety, reliability, environmental impact and quality. Management of physical trials to underpin thedesign, identifying and engaging suppliers, specification of requirements, assessment of supplier proposals, technical support to trial work, review and approval of supplier deliverables. Review design documentation to ensure that it meets CNS requirements. Preparation of technical specifications and reports. Liaison with stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the project is delivered in line with expectations.

Essential/Desirable Skills
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or or significant experience in a process engineering role. Membership of the IChemE would be preferable. Proven experience and expertise in process design projects, such as development of unit operations, heat and mass transfer, separation and mixing processes and design of nuclear process plants. Experience of working within the nuclear industry. Experience of UF6 plant and handling facilities would be beneficial.
