Process Design Engineer

Large refinery located in Long Beach area has an immedicate need for a Process Engineer to work on capital projects for refinery. Ideal candidate will have deep understanding of unit operations within a medium to large size refinery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Must be able to perform cost/benefit economic analysis and author documents requesting management for AFEs (Authorizations for Expenditure)
- Must have demonstrated experience/skills in interacting with unit operating personnel (operators), and unit engineers to obtain relevant info/data/knowledge to deliver quality AFEs and sound process design
- Develop the design basis, develop PFD diagrams, and develop the P&ID's
- Perform calculation to specify equipment, Pumps, Compressors, Separators, Heaters, Heat exchagners, columns, etc
- Process Modeling experience

REQUIREMENTS

- BS in Chemical Engineering
- 5 to 15 years of experience as process design engineer.
- Must have experience doing process modeling and be familiar with HYSYS software
- Experience with project development, project engineering, and design for refineries. Capital project work in a refinery is a big plus
- Understanding of unit operations at a large refinery (or proven experience at medium size)
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to professionally interact and collaborate with peers and management.
- Familiarity with applicable codes. ASME, API, ANSI, NACE
