Description
Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Significant engineering experience required.

Skills and Competencies:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas. Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field. Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

Require candidates with manufacturing and/or quality backgrounds and desire experience with one or more of the following processes:
1. stamping/fabrication/welding/brazing
2. machining
3. assembly.

Knowledge of APQP processes and PPAP documentation including the following:
1. APQP elements per AIAG Manual
2. PPAP requirements per AIAG
3. Process Change Notification (PCN)
4. 4. Non-conforming material (NCM) and Corrective action request (CAR) processes
5. 8D problem solving and engineering deviations.

Other knowledge required for the position:
1. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (geometric dimensioning and tolerences)
2. Knowledge of quality systems and documentation desired
3. Knowledge of purchasing terms and systems desired
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.

Specific tasks to be completed in this position:
This position is in support of Large Aftertreatment Tier II component management.

The role is a PCE (Process Control Engineer) function within segment Global Purchasing. Duties include but are not limited to:
Conducting supplier tooling status follow up and insure on-time PPAP submission in accordance with a Master Tracking Chart. Report tooling and PPAP status Coordinate sample parts activities with receiving facilities and obtain and attach quality approval to PPAP documentation for approval. Review, disposition, and track the status of supplier PPAP submissions. Attend regular follow up meetings (TBD) to report out status and results of above. Coordinate engineering supplier requests and facilitate timely responses from Global Purchasing while insuring entry of the new component into the Cat APQP Management Tool. Weekly reporting of status and issues
