Principle/Lead DBA - SQL Server - Manchester/Remote - 50-60k

An experienced Database Administrator with strong MS SQL Server skills is required urgently for a large software / IT company with offices in Manchester, Yorkshire and London. This is a lead role which requires a real SQL expert with at least 4-5 years of SQL DBA experience to act as the principle DBA in the database and support team, and will be tasked with taking overall responsibility of the SQL Server environment as well as up-skilling more junior DBA team members. This position requires someone with strong production and development DBA experience - as well as strong TSQL any experience in the Microsoft BI Stack ( SSRS / SSIS / SSAS ) would be beneficial.

The ideal DBA will have experience in both a development and production environment, and will have a number of years experience allowing them to hit the ground running. They currently have their data stored in SQL Server 2005/2008 R2, and are looking to upgrade to SQL2012 in Q1 of 2013.

Essential skills include:
- DBA Tasks (backups, recovery, performance tuning & optimisation)
- SQL Development experience (e.g. stored procedures, triggers, tables, etc)
- Excellent communication and business facing skills

Desirable experience includes:
- Experience with large, high-availability databases in a clustered-environment
- OLTP
- Financial services experience
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. MCDBA, MCTS, IT related degree, etc)
